The United Nations has expressed concerns regarding the civilians in the Yarmouk Palestinian refugees camp and the area of Al-Hajar Al-Aswad south of Damascus, amid the military campaign launched by the Syrian regime and its ally Russia, on the areas controlled by the Islamic State.

This was announced in the press conference held at the U.N office in N.Y by 'Farhan Haq' the Deputy Spokesperson of the United Nations' Security General.

Farhan Haq talked about reports of the continuous shelling by the regime forces and Daesh, expressing his concerns about the safety and protection of civilians trapped in those areas.

Haq added that thousands of civilians are still sieged there due to the violent clashes, which caused huge number of casualties among civilians, displaced many of them, most of whom are Palestinian refugees, in addition to the destruction of the infrastructure in those areas.

It's noteworthy that the death toll of the massacre committed by the regime forces on Friday raised to 16 civilians, in the midst of calls by the people for an immediate humanitarian truce, and the opening of safe corridors for the civilians to leave safely.
