The Syrian Network for Human Rights confirmed in a report published on Saturday that no less than 687 cases of arbitrary arrest was documented last April.
The Network added that the regime is responsible for 87% of the arbitrary arrests in Syria. The report documented 2858 cases of arbitrary arrest since the beginning of 2018 till the issuance of the report, and 687 in April only. 476 of whom are arrested by the regime forces,including 45 children and 42 women.
The self-management forces arrested 41 persons including a child and 3 women. The Islamic State arrested 53 persons including 2 children and 3 women, while Hayyat Tahrir al Sham arrested 46 persons including 2 children, and some other factions of the armed opposition arrested 71 persons including a child and 2 women.
The report called for the International Security Council to follow up the implementation of Resolutions No. 2042 and 2043, and the resolution No. 2139 to put an end to the enforced disappearance. It also called for the Human Rights Council to follow up the cases of arrested persons and the forcibly disappeared detainees in Syria and to highlight this issue in its annual meetings.
