Evidence of Douma Chemical Attack to be Handed to Turkey - Yeni Safak

Speaking exclusively to Yeni Şafak daily, head of Syria’s Interim Government Jawad Abu Hatab said that parts of the missile that was carrying chemical agents were brought to the Euphrates Shield region.

Parts of the missile that carried chemical agents during the attack on Syria’s Douma was brought to the Euphrates Shield region from Eastern Ghouta and will be handed to Turkish officials for inspection, according to a senior Syrian opposition figure.
Speaking exclusively to Yeni Şafak daily, head of Syria’s Interim Government Jawad Abu Hatab said that some of the parts of the missile that was carrying chemical agents were brought to the Euphrates Shield region, noting that the opposition is ready to hand it to Turkey for inspection.
Abu Hatab also blasted the UN’s scandalous attempt at gathering evidence, noting that Russia and the Assad regime are “destroying evidence while the world idly watches by.”

They destroyed evidence

“The UN continues to display its incapability that it showed during the five-year siege [in Eastern Ghouta] in the investigation period. Despite the fact that 11 days have passed since the attack, no international body got in touch with us. The U.S., UK and France carried out strikes under the pretext of punishing Assad. However, no body or foundation entered the region since April 7. Syrian intelligence services carried out a car bomb attack in Douma in order to block UN officials from gathering evidence,” continued Abu Hatab.
“Dozens of evidence that carried traces of the attack were moved to other areas. Hundreds of garments, furniture and items were burnt by Assad’s henchmen.”

The regime went mad

Chemical engineer Abu Majeed, who witnessed the Douma attack, recounted the events of that fatal day to Yeni Şafak daily.
''The Assad regime launched its attack against the Douma city center on April 5. They suffered a great blow during the first two days. They lost over 70 terrorists from the mostly Iran-backed Shia militias. They were in a state of panic and anger. At night, the frightening bombardment began and they still couldn’t advance. The regime went mad and used missiles with chemical heads in the morning. The one carrying the toxic material landed in the Haret al-Jourah district and spread across Douma. We set up special medical points in secure areas because there were no hospitals left.''

“Two days after the incident, the Russians were the first to come. One of our underground hospitals was close to the site of the attack. The head of the hospitals and the doctors were forced to give statements. Those on duty said, “There hasn’t been a chemical attack” under threat. When we left, we took parts of the missile that was used during the chemical attack. Now we are ready to give this evidence to Turkey. Because the number of countries who see this attack as a war crime is very small.”
