The trilateral summit between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and Russian President Vladimir Putin, and his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani, ended, on Wednesday, to confirm the support of the return of Syrian Refugees, and to focus on a political solution in accordance with Security Council resolution 2,455.
The Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in a press conference at the end of the summit said: "Residential units must be established in the safe areas of the Syrian north for the Syrian Refugees", adding that his country intends to establish a hospital in the area of Tal Abyad north of Raqqa, in Syria. The Turkish president said that his country will eliminate the terrorist groups that threaten Syria and its neighboring States. Erdogan added: ''We are re-building the infrastructure in the areas we purified of the terrorists, we are also preparing the areas of Northern Syria for the families to return after clearing them.'' He pointed out that ''the areas we cleared of the terrorists are different from the areas hit by the International coalition which are tense areas today,'' confirming that "the alliance with the Kurdish organizations in north Syria against the Islamic State is not possible." In his statements, the Turkish president called on the international community to "support the efforts to restore security and stability to Syria", indicating that "the European Union has pledged 3 billion euros for the refugees, but provided only little.''
On his part, the Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said "The region has been witnessing for years some major problems, the most significant of which is terrorism, and some countries are training terrorists and provide them with weapons. Some want to keep terrorist organizations in the region to serve their own interests," he said. He added: "We held important meetings during this summit for the future of Syria, and we agreed to help the Syrian people, and we must work to implement what we have agreed upon." Rouhani stressed that "the Syrian crisis can not be solved by military means," adding that "we have to support the Syrians and help them to return to their lands, and to continue the fight against terrorism and removing its remnants of Syria."
The Russian President Vladimir Putin on turn declared that "Russia and Iran and Turkey emphasize the unity of the Syrian lands and stressed on the sovereignty and prestige of the state," Putin noted that "the priority is to focus on the political solution and comprehensive dialog, which includes all Syrians,'' and added ''we agreed on the exchange of intelligence information between Russia, Turkey and Iran."
The three countries are working together within the path of Astana, and concluded agreements of what is known as "de-escalation" in Syria. It is noteworthy that Russia and Iran are the main supporters of the Assad regime, while Ankara supports the Syrian opposition.
