The US and Russian administrations continue consolidating new facts on the ground in synchronization with reshaping Syria that will be completed soon taking into consideration the interests and influence of both great powers. Russia turned from the policy of consecutive ceasefires according to which indigenous people were displaced to the de-escalation plan in the south that was reproduced in some areas of Aleppo and Damascus countryside.
Concurrently, the United states succeeded to freeze the fronts of al-Tanf and the Syrian desert, while supporting some groups and disarming those rejecting the idea of not fighting Assad's regime.
At this time, we can see that Assad's regime started declaring strong preparations for a battle in Deir ez – Zour, the last stronghold of ISIS after the anticipated defeat of the terrorist organization in al-Raqqa.
Assad's regime has recently sent military reinforcement towards the area in support of the upcoming battle.
These developments seem as a natural result of the US-Russian understandings that will grant Deir ez-Zour city to Assad's regime. As for the other areas in al-Jazira region, they could be divided among the US-supported groups if the plan of driving Iran away succeeds.
Mudar al-Assaad, a media activist, said, "a meeting was held among the Americans, Russians, and Syria's Democratic Forces commanders," adding that "it was decided to grant the regime Deir ez-Zour city as a share of ISIS legacy, whereas al-Hasakah, province, Tel Abyad, Afrin, and Manbij will remain under the control of the Kurdish Autonomous Administration."
"What emphasizes the agreement, is the stoppage of financial and political support for the Free Syrian army in Homs countryside and Palmyra on grounds of attacking Assad's regime forces heading towards Deir ez-Zour."
