Battles have raged between Tahrir al-Sham and Ahrar al-Sham groups in Idlib, accusing each other of aggression at times and of submission to external teams at other times.
In this regard, activist Ahmad al-Ahmad said, "what is happening in Idlib is a preemptive step by Tahrir al-Sham because of its concerns of a war that could be started by Ahrar al-Sham to drive it out of Idlib."
Ahmad believes that "the damage that could have taken place if Ahrar al-Sham had attacked Tahrir al-Sham became a reality when Tahrir al-Sham took the initiative," indicating that "this will the Americans and Russians to strike Idlib violently as what happened in Mosul."
Ahmad warned that "the existence of Tahrir al-Sham alone in Idlib would cause disastrous consequences for the city and its residents during the coming few months unless the Free Syrian Army factions in Idlib, which have remained neutral, intervenes.
On the other hand, observers called for ending the infighting between Tahrir al-Sham and Ahrar al-Sham immediately to prevent the entry of Assad's regime and its allies to the province after the exhaustion of both groups, which would strengthen the regime's position in any upcoming negotiations.
