Baladi News – (Omar Yusuf)
Assad's regime media sources stated that the parliament members agreed to dismiss the president of the parliament, Hadiyya Abbas, after she refused to allow some members to provide their inputs during Thursday's session.
The source added that these members protested inside the parliament in refusal of what they called as the breach of the law of the Syrian constitution. After that, 164 members filed an application to relieve the president of the parliament of her duties.
The sources pointed out that a session was held at 8:00 pm under the chairmanship of Najdat Anzour, the Vice-President of the parliament, during which the application was examined and a decision was taken to resign Mrs. Abbas.
It is noteworthy that Abbas is the first Syrian woman to assume the presidency of the parliament in the history of Syria since its establishment in 1919, and was appointed directly without any vote by members.
