The Syrian Network for Human Rights issued a report in which it documented the drop at least 4,252 barrel bombs by Assad regime in the first half of 2017, as there was a significant increase in the number of barrel bombs in June compared to what was documented since the beginning of 2017, 97% of were dropped on the governorate of Daraa.
The report reviewed the outcome of the barrel bombs in the first half of 2017 as it reached 4252 barrels, the largest of which were dropped on the governorate of Daraa, followed by Damascus countryside, Hama, and Aleppo, which resulted in killing 94 civilians, including 41 children and 20 women, in addition to destroying 13 vital centers, 4 mosques, 4 medical facilities, a school, a market, a bakery and 2 centers for civil defense.
The report also documented the fall of at least 1271 barrel bombs in June, most of them were dropped on Daraa and Aleppo, which led to the martyrdom of 14 civilians, including 2 children and 5 women, in addition to the destruction of 3 vital centers (a mosque, a market and a bakery).
The report confirmed that regime forces had undoubtedly violated Security Council Resolution number 2139 and used barrel bombs systematically and extensively, not to mention violating, through premeditated murder, the 7th article of Rome Statute in a systematic and extensive way.
