Well-informed sources reported that the Kurdish Units militia which is affiliated to "PYD", the Syrian arm of "PKK", handed over the management of oil fields to the Directorate of Al-Hasaka fields "Rmelan" that is affiliated to the Ministry of Oil in Assad's regime government.
According to the agreement, the Directorate of Al-Hasaka fields will receive Rmelan oil fields, which are about 65 kilometers away from the city of Qamishli, as it will get staff offices and will submit periodic reports directly to the Syrian Ministry of Oil.
The governorate of al-Hasaka has been recently witnessing a shortage of oil materials as a result of the agreements signed between the regime and Kurdish militia, which transfer the oil derivatives through convoys to the regime-held regions. The militia also banned all the entities working in the sector of oil refining from working in the region till they get an approval from the militia on the condition of handing it the production and not selling it locally aiming at controlling the prices.
It is worth mentioning that Rmelan oil fields recorded a rise in production that reached 9 million and 384 thousand cubic meters in 2010, according to official statistics, as the number of wells amounted to 1239 in 2010, but most of them went out of service due to the war in the country.
