The sons of the former Syrian Minister of Defense, Mustafa Tlass, announced the death of their father in the French capital "Paris" after he was clinically dead 2 weeks ago at the age of 85, the most of which were spent in oppressing the Syrians.
Mustafa Tlass who was the minister of Defense in Assad's regime for more than 2 decades was Hafez Assad's partner in losing the Golan Heights in 1967. He was also behind arresting thousands of opponent Syrians and then liquidating them in prisons, not to mention the massacres he perpetrated in Hama in 1982, where he killed more than 50,000 civilians.
The announcement of his death coincided with the anniversary of the infamous massacre of Palmyra's prison, where he signed the approval of killing more than 1,400 Syrian opponents who were arrested in the prison and most of them were doctors, pharmacists, engineers, teachers, clergy men and intellectuals who were arrested for demonstrating against the constitution that Hafez Assad has put which allowed him to firm his fist on the country as an ultimate leader.
With the outbreak of the Syrian revolution, Tlass remained silent towards the massacres of Assad the son and left to France with the rest of his family. Then he was followed by his son, Manaf Tlass, who defected from his positon as a brigadier general in the Republican Guards, but still he didn't provide any support to the revolution.
