After the dust of battles cleared away, the unbelievable amount of destruction in eastern Aleppo was uncovered.
Among the rubble of the destroyed city, which now looks like the Russian Stalingrad or the German Dresden at the time of war, the regime installed provocative and guided billboards reading advertisements that are inappropriate for the current circumstances.
On Monday, activists shared photos of boards displaying advertisements of MTN communications company, owned by Assad’s cousin Rami Makhlouf, although such boards are not needed amid the destroyed buildings.
The boards display phrases like “Aleppo, you are worthy of happiness.” This phrase has bad connotations and revengeful meanings that could stir the violent feelings of homeless and displaced people as well as the families of the people detained at the time of occupying Aleppo.
It is noteworthy that Assad’s regime was able to reoccupy Aleppo city as a whole late last year with Russian and Iranian support, where hundreds of people were killed and injured in eastern Aleppo, whereas the remaining residents were driven out of the city.
