Assad’s regime forces handed over al-Sin air base on the environs of Damascus to Iran-backed militias, granting them the most important military base near al-Waleed Border Crossing with Iraq in al-Tanf area.
Zaman al-Wasl quoted a source that declined to be named as saying that the recent hostilities in which the Iranian militias participated were launched from al-Sin air base.
Iranian Ilyushin Il-76 airlifters have been landing at the third biggest air base in Syria at a rate of two per night, the source stated. In addition, two C130 aircrafts were based at the airport to provide logistic support for the Iranian militias in the Syrian Desert.
The source indicated that the airlifters that have landed at the air base have brought mostly mercenaries trained at Revolutionary Guard centers in Iran, whereas other aircrafts have discharged military ammunition and equipment designed for fighting in the Desert.
