Through its Facebook page, the central channel of Hmeimim Air Base stated in a post that a meeting between the Russian military leadership and Assad regime officers was held in Daraa al-Mahatta in order to coordinate the military operations in southern Syria.
The channel indicated that the meeting defined the negative and positive points of the battle in Daraa and “how to find appropriate solutions to developments taking place on the ground”, claiming that the continuation of the flow of weapons and ammunitions to the rebels through the Jordanian borders is “the most prominent challenge at this stage.”
Abu Shaimaa, the media officer of al-Bonian al-Marsous operations room, said, “we do not rule out the possibility of reinforcing the regime forces in Daraa with additional militants and mercenaries as well as raising the Russian aerial support, especially after the losses that these forces suffered heavy losses during the past few days.”
The Russian statements were made after the failure of the regime forces to advance in al-Manshiyya and towards Nasib border crossing, which cost the regime hundreds of casualties despite the Russian aerial support.
