Huzaifa Halawah, Baladi News
The media official of Maghawier al-Thawra army denied in a private interview with Baladi News that the "Iraqi Shiite Popular Mobilization" has controlled the border triangle among Syria Jordan and Iraq.
"al-Bara'a Fares" declared to Baladi News that the information circulated by the Iraqi media regarding controlling the border triangle by the Shiite militias is absolutely incorrect as those militias seize control only over the Iraqi side of the border, while Maghawier al-Thawra army controls the Syrian side.
al-Bara'a pointed out that the existence of the Shiite mobilization on the Iraqi side doesn't affect the operations of FSA in the Syrian desert against "ISIS".
He added that if those militias tried to cut the road before FSA towards the city of Deir al-Zor and al-Boukamal or tried to open a front with Maghawier al-Thawra army, we will take the necessary actions and protect our operations and militants.
In the same context, al-Bara'a said: "The Shiite militias in the Syrian desert have retreated to regions outside the administrative borders of al-Tanef with a distance of 55 km, though they no longer threaten the operations of Maghawier al-Thawra in al-Zakef camp.
Regarding "Hermes" Missile launchers which have been recently deployed by US forces in al-Tanef camps, al-Bara'a said that these weapons were for defensive purposes and not intended to be used against ISIS or the Shiite militias".
It's noteworthy that the military operations by the Shiite militias stopped in the Syrian desert after they were targeted by a number of strikes by the International coalition while they were trying to reach the Syrian-Iraqi borders in order to cut the road before FSA to reach the city of al-Boukamal.
