Iraqi "Popular Mobilization" Displaces Residents of 14 Syrian Villages in al-Hasakah

The Iraqi popular mobilization militia continues to bombard the border regions and villages between Iraq and Syria southeast of the governorate of al-Hasakah, which resulted in displacing more than 10,000 civilians from more than 10 villages. The bombardment also threatens to displace more than 70,000 others from the region.

Local sources said to Baladi News that the militia of popular mobilization positons in Kada'a al-Ba'aj in Iraq and in two villages in Syria which are (Tal Safouk and al-Rousan), in addition to controlling (al-Bawaridy) village which it handed over to the Kurdish militias yesterday.

The sources added that the bombardment by the militia of popular mobilization has displaced the residents of more than ten other villages in the southeastern countryside of al-Hasakah. The sources also pointed out that about ten thousand civilians were displaced from the region by the militia.

The militias of the Iraqi mobilization have advanced west of al-Mousel reaching the Syrian borders and controlled some villages on the border. They have also penetrated into the Syrian territories and seized control over the village and police station of Tal Safouk, which is considered one of the most important land crossings for ISIS.  

Media sources reported that the militias of Democratic Union Party are coordinating with the popular mobilization, as the latter has handed over  the village of (al-Bawardi) to them. The militias also attack the positon of ISIS in the southern countryside of al-Hasakah in conjunction with an attack from the Iraqi side.
