Why Assad’s Regime Aggresses Against “Euphrates Shield” Areas

Baladi News – Aleppo (Abdul Qader Mohammad)

Assad’s regime has continued its aggression against and penetration attempts into the Free Syrian Army areas east from al-Bab city in Aleppo north eastern countryside. The area is witnessing daily infiltration attempts by the regime as well as from the direction of Tadif city south from al-Bab.

Abu al-Farouk, the commander of Manbij Rebels’ Brigade, indicated that “the regime did not accept any area being out of its control, and it does not want a safe zone under the Turkish protection because that annoys the allied SDF militia.”

Abu Jamal al-Shami, a commander at Sultan Morad rebel group, explained that the regime is trying to delude SDF into believing that it is advancing to the FSA areas on the one hand and is attempting to provoke the FSA in order to provide a justification for excluding it from any upcoming political solution.

Al-Shami emphasized that all FSA factions are committed to all international agreements that have been concluded so far, but will respond firmly to any aggression by either SDF or the regime forces.
