Movements Expose the Iranian-Israeli Alliance in Syria

Mervet Muhammad, Baladi News

Iran has worked on deep-rooting its military existence in Syria through establishing an airbase near the city of al- Quneitra not far from the Golan Heights. It also cooperated with Hezbollah militias to control the region connecting Damascus-International airport with the Golan region from one side and with al-Qalamoun from the other side in order to secure their supply lines. These movements serve the Iranian policy that aims at creating a Shiite connection with Israel, not to fight the latter of course, but to achieve many political gains.

The latest Iranian movements in the Syrian south included: facilitating the resettlement of Shiite families from Iraq and Iran, establishing sectarian residential gatherings in order to create a Shiite cordon.

Military and Human Establishment

New information for Baladi News confirm that the Iranian Revolutionary Guards are working on establishing a sustainable Shiite base in al- Quneitra in the occupied Golan aiming at gaining new political pressure cards to use when needed along with an international pressure card on the countries adjacent to Syria. The Syrian regime is facilitating the establishment of this base by providing huge services to this Iranian project.

A Shiite Arc to Separate Sunnis From Israel

The Syrian writer "Ahmad al-Hawwas" believes that Iran and its sectarian arms entered Syria to prevent the collapse of the Syrian regime as it actually protects Israel. He went on saying: "the demographic change we are witnessing in the regions of Damascus and Homs that are adjacent to Lebanon means that the aim is to create a Shiite arc to separate Sunnis from the Israeli borders and the Iranian base in the al-Quneitra is a completion to this project. Israel feels safe because the enmity between it and Iran is only in media and the war in Syria is actually a proxy war in favor of Zionists.

A protection Wall For Israel

The political analyst "Aboo al-Hissow" finds many aims behind the establishment of a popular Shiite base in al-Quneitra, the first of which is trying to control south of Damascus from Darayya to Damascus airport reaching Daraa, al-Quneitra and al-Suwaydaa along with Barada valley, al-Zabadani, and Madaya on the other side and so forming a Shiite cordon around Damascus. On the other hand, Iran seeks to secure the supply lines for Hezbollah and use its existence in the region and its alleged threat to Israel as an international pressure card, but actually it can be a wall that secures Israel just like Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.

al-Hissow went on saying that: "The popular Iranian base being close to water sources gives it the power to control these sources and threaten to cut them and if it succeeds to connect this region with the Syrian desert through Iraq to Iran may lead to the probability of creating a secure passage for oil and gas from Iran to the Mediterranean".
