Assad regime has started establishing the so-called "Syrian Popular Mobilization" in the province of al-Hassakah over which it shares control with the Kurdish Democratic Union party "PYD". This step was coincided with the arrival of the militia of Iraqi popular mobilization in the Syrian-Iraqi borders in al-Hassakah.
"al-Khabour" news website said that the Syrian Popular Mobilization was established with Iranian orders and support and "Ali Hawwas al-Khlief", who is known for his ultimate support for the regime and Shiite tendency to Iran, was appointed as general commander of the mobilization in al-Qamishli.
The activist Omar al-Hassakawi from the al-Hassakah Youth Union said that "PYD" is affiliated to the Kurdish Workers party "PKK" and it's well known that the popular mobilization managed to control some regions in Iraq in cooperation with Shankal protection units which are also affiliated to PKK.
He added that PYD is in full coordination with the regime in al-Hassakah and this cooperation extended to Aleppo as regime forces are imposing a cordon around Manbij to isolate it from the factions of the Euphrates Shield.
The activist concluded saying: "The regime apparently wants to pave the way for the entry of the Shiite mobilization into al-Hassakah through forming a similar militia on the Syrian side, and thus linking Syria to Iraq, through the arms of Iran, which has good relations with PKK".
