Assad’s regime has banned the transfer of ownership, sale, and purchase of properties in the evacuated areas, Aws al-Dimashqi, a displaced resident who faced security obstacles said.
The regime stipulated obtaining a security clearance from the intelligence as a condition for completing any sale of real estates, the speaker added.
Al-Dimashqi explained that requesting a clearance requires being present in person at one of the intelligence branches concerned with the properties of the displaced, which means that the owner will be detained if they are wanted by the regime.
“The regime placed these obstacles on the pretext of fighting terrorism, but the truth is that Assad’s intelligence intends to fight the rebels who preferred to leave and intimidate those who chose to stay that their properties would be confiscated if they show any support for the revolution,” the speaker added.
Al-Dimashqi indicated that a lot of Syrians resorted to hiring attorneys to complete sale and purchase processes, but “the regime categorically refuses the presence of anyone but the owner although the step is 100% legal.”
“Requiring the appearance in person means indirectly expropriating the properties of tens of thousands of Syrians who preferred leaving to accepting the conciliation with Assad’s regime,” concluded the speaker.
