Security forces and Military police have launched a new campaign to arrest the young men of the city of Latakia to take them to military service in order to make up for the shortage resulted from the battles of Deir al-Zor, Daraa, and al-Raqqah.
The Facebook page of Latakia News Network posted saying that regime forces are preparing to take young men who were born between 1976 and 1984, adding that they will take 71,000 men from all governorates. The post was hugely denounced by pro-regime civilians.
A local source from inside Latakia reported that some women attacked a military police patrol after arresting one of their relatives which led the militants to reply by hitting the women.
It's worth mentioning that more 500,000 young men have escaped from the military service and headed towards the mountains in both regime-held and rebel-held regions to hide, especially after the increase in the numbers of killings among regime forces.
