Militia of Kurdish People's Protection Units has forced civilians, some of them are from the elderly, in the countryside of the city of Afrin north of Aleppo to take up arms and serve at the their checkpoints, according to Kurdish media means.
They added that the civilians were Muhammad Osman Nouri, Muhammad Sato Baker and Midhat Muhammad Murad who were all in their sixtieth. They also pointed out that civilians over 40 years are being sent to checkpoints inside the city of Afrin for 5 days then they allow them to go back to their houses for a rest, while those under 40 are kept at the checkpoints or sent to Al-Muslimiyah region in Aleppo.
It's worth mentioning that the Democratic Union Party forces many civilians in Afrin and its villages to join the ranks of the "Protection Units", which is a faction of the elderly.
