Baladi News – Hama (Ahmad Al-Ali)
The residents of Talaf town in Hama southern countryside have suffered an acute drinking water crisis due to two years of power outage as well as the breakdown of the only well in the town. This has been reflected on people’s lives, who endure hardships on a daily basis to obtain water.
Media activist Abdu Abu Jamil from Talaf said, “the crisis started two years ago when power supply transformers were targeted by the regime and Russian warplanes.”
“The water crisis aggravated over the past few weeks due to the breakdown of the only well that supplies 7000 people with water in the town because of a technical failure in the pump. The failure of the pump threatens that a humanitarian crisis could happen because it is impossible to maintain the pump in the regime areas, whereas there has been no response by relevant organizations despite the calls of the council and revolutionary bodies in the town for the replacement of the pump.”
It is noteworthy that Hama southern countryside has suffered a severe siege for four years due to its proximity to regime-allied villages controlled by the regime and national defense militia.
