A report of the Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) documented the violations against medical and civil defense teams as well as their facilities by the conflicting parties in Syria during April 2017.
The report indicated that 23 paramedics, including a woman, were killed in April 2017, of whom 7 were killed by Assad’s regime, 14 by forces that are thought to be Russian, and 1 by the Kurdish autonomous administration.
According to the report, the regime forces killed two nurses, including a woman, a paramedic, two pharmacists, 1 medical worker, and one civil defense worker. On the other hand, the Russian forces killed two nurses, 1 medical worker, 1 Red Crescent worker, 10 and civil defense workers, and the Kurdish autonomous administration killed a doctor.
The report documented 45 attacks against vital medical and civil defense centers, of which 7 were conducted by the regime against 3 medical facilities, an ambulance, and 3 civil defense centers. It also documented 33 assaults against 11 medical facilities, 10 ambulances, 12 civil defense centers, and 3 Red Crescent centers at the hands of unidentified parties.
The report emphasized that Assad’s forces have been involved since 2011 in the bombardment of medical facilities and civil defense centers.
The civil defense teams and paramedics inside Syria held a protest against the non-stop targeting of civil defense teams, paramedics, and hospitals working to help civilians and mitigate the impacts of barbarian shelling against them.
