Turkish troops deployed on highest peak in Idlib

BALADI NEWS

Turkish troops have deployed, Wednesday, in several locations in Jabal Al-Zawiya in the southern Idlib countryside.

Baladi News correspondent said that a military convoy of the Turkish army forces consisting of about 80 vehicles, including armored vehicles, tanks, artillery and heavy logistic machinery, was stationed Wednesday evening at the "al-Nabi Ayoub" peak in the western side of Jabal al-Zawiya.

The peak of al-Nabi Ayoub is a strategic point with a height of about 941 meters above sea level, and it overlooks large areas of Idlib province as well as the provinces of Hama and Lattakia, moreover, it is the highest peak in Idlib, Baladi correspondent pointed out.

He added that the Turkish forces deployed this morning in both the "Rami" and "Bsonqul" villages to the west of Areeha, in the southern Idlib countryside.

It's noteworthy that Turkey has raised the tone of its statements and threats against Bashar al-Assad regime, as the Assad regime forces have recently pressed an offensive against the fourth de-escalation area, according to an agreement struck between Russia and Turkey in 2018, which considers Idlib and Aleppo as a de-escalation zone, where any acts of violence are prohibited. Under which agreement, Turkey established 12 observation posts in the Syrian north.

However, Assad regime forces backed by Russian fighter jets violated the agreement and launched a deadly attack against the de-escalation zone, including Turkey's observation posts where several Turkish soldiers were killed, and Turkey retaliated by neutralizing dozens of Assad soldiers.
