Turkey, Russia delegations meet for second round of Idlib talks

Delegations from Turkey and Russia met today for a second time following a weekend session in the Turkish capital Ankara.

They discussed the escalating situation in Syria’s Idlib, Anadolu Agency reported.

Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister Sedat Onal headed his country’s delegation, with representatives from the National Defence Ministry, General Staff and National Intelligence Organisation.

On Saturday, the delegations discussed steps to boost the political process in war-torn Syria, in a three-hour meeting which stressed the need to ensure peace on the ground. They decided to resume talks in the coming weeks.

In Idlib, at least five Turkish troops were killed and five others injured today in an attack by Assad regime forces, Turkey’s National Defence Ministry said.
