How Syrians interacted with footage of Assad Shabiha digging up graves in Idlib

BALADI NEWS

People and activists all over Syria have gone furious in reaction to footage showing Assad militiamen in Idlib’s countryside as they were digging up graves after breaking their tombstones.

A Syrian journalist and writer opposing to Assad regime, Maher Sharaf Al-Din commented on the footage saying, "If they practice all this barbarism in front of the cameras ... then we can imagine what they are doing away from the cameras! All of Syria's tragedy is on one hand ... and the tragedy of the people detained by these barbarians is on the second hand!"

"We have lived for half a century in extreme poverty and deprivation... to equip an army that kills us and then dig our graves! Land protectors ... graves diggers!" added Sharaf al-Din, in a post on his Facebook page.

In another post, he said, "They kill, then they dig the grave of those whom they killed. What an insignificance.. brutality ... and villainy these cowards have!"

The Syrian activist Fawaz Shahda commented also commented on the footage: “I have spent an hour surfing the Internet to find an instance where the Mongols dug graves in the countries they invaded, I swear I couldn’t find!! Stop calling Assad militiamen as Mongols... They are beasts and Zombies!”

Syrian Journalist Mohammad Haj Bakri posted: “Because the tombstones of the martyrs stand like a middle finger for them; they attack them, and because the dead are still alive in the hearts of those who believe in the revolution and its spirit, because we are good and they are evil, they behave like beasts.”

In another post he said: “The sect of any Assad Shabih[militiaman] is Assadism, whether he’s of the Sunni, Alawite, Druz, Christian, or Ismaili sect, the Shabih is just Assadist! Those who offend the graves today are people of the same village, but they are baptized with Assad’s grudge!”

Footage of the regime's shabiha went viral as they were in Khan al-Sibl area of Idlib countryside, which they recently took control of, chanting slogans in support of “Bashar Al-Assad” breaking the tombstones and digging graves of the Martyrs.
