The leader of Lebanon's Hezbollah militia, Hassan Nasrallah, said the United States had sent a message to the Assad regime and Iran via Russia, saying it's troops would withdraw form Syria in return for Iran's withdrawal from the Syrian territories.
Hassan Nasrallah said in an interview with al-Mayadeen television: "The Americans told the Russian they are ready to the complete withdrawal from Syria, in return for the Iranian withdrawal."
Nasrallah pointed out that the Russian President told his Iranian counterpart, Hassan Rouhani, about the U.S demand, and that Rouhani in his turn said it to the Secretary General of Hezbollah. "The Russians also told the Syrian regime about this condition, but the Syrian regime rejected it," Nasrallah added.
"Iran rejected the US request because Iran is present in Syria at the request of Damascus," Nasrallah said, and he referred that "the Russians only delivered the message of the Americans who have recently intensified their operations in Syria."
"Americans can not do more than what they did, and they will leave Syria and region," Nasrallah indicated, saying that US President Donald Trump "Will not wage any war for any reason, and his country is not in position to wage new wars on the region."
It's noteworthy that the US President announced in December 19, that his country will start withdrawing its troops from Syria, after what he called "defeating ISIS in the Syrian territories."
