The Orient Net website published a report talks about the latest statistics of the population in north Syria.
The report says the population in northern Syria is 3,695,000, according to the latest statistics issued by “Response Coordinators in Northern Syria” on Thursday (May 24).
The number of people who were originally living in the north is 2,250,000 persons. Only 900,000 of them have never been displaced because they live in relatively safe areas. The other 1,350,000 were forcibly displaced within the north due to consecutive brutal military campaigns and aerial bombardment by Assad regime and his allies.
The number of newly forcibly displaced persons from Ghouta and the south of Damascus is 48,633, and the number of newly forcibly displaced persons from Homs northern countryside is 32,257.
“Response Coordinators in Northern Syria” issued a distress call on Friday (May 18) to all humanitarian organizations and NGOs operating in the north to assist the IDPs after the arrival of 119,000 IDPs during the last two months, adding that the response to displacement waves is very weak compared to the crisis.
